Benighted Alcestis

I've been working on this project for no less than 11 years now, since 1996... I've been writing mainly lyrics in that time and also some music, created some artwork, like album covers for all my planned albums. Is anything released yet? Haha, no... I'm actually working on six Benighted Alcestis albums at the same time, may sound odd, but that's just the way I work... Next to that, take into consideration the fact that I'm an endless perfectionist and all of that results in years of work...

All 6 albums are concept albums and each deal with a certain subject...

Goddess of the storm

Album logo finished: No (in progress - posted as soon as the initial sketch is done)

Topic: Personal subjects

It will be my first album, and I'll take great pride in its completion. When that will be, or when either of the others will be completed is unknown, I don't have a schedule for anything. Since I'll probably record everything at home I'm not under any pressure from studios for time or anything. This album will have a cover which is already done for several years, and you can check it out here. As said above, I still need to complete the album logo to finish up the entire cover art.

On this album there will be a song by the name 'Myn nachtlân I'. The 'I' reveals that there will be more parts of this song. Each album will have a part on it... So there will be 6 parts in total. They will not fit within the concept of the individual albums, except on Goddess of the storm, as the topic is in line with that album. Check out the Myn nachtlân album below for more info...

Topic: Misanthropy

Ah, I'm not gonna go deep into misanthropy here, haha... Perhaps a bit of a metal cliché, but who cares... I can't change the subject because the topic has been covered before, then we couldn't release any album anymore... At least I know that what I'm doing is not blindly copying anyone or whatever... Everything I put into these albums is truly my own. And anyway, my lyrics, most of the time, are written in a cryptical fashion... You won't understand shit of it, hahaha... Rive is most likely going to be a slightly more aggressive album than Goddess...

Tome of ubiquity

1. Facing the ruins (intro)

2. Structures of infinity

3. Myn nachtlân III

4. The last in eternity (outro)

Topic: Medieval times

The medieval times are of great interest to me... I often feel like I was born in the wrong era... I have a great interest in medieval Europe and the times before that as well... And I also have a profound interest in space and space exploration... Unfortunately, the timeline puts me way past the medieval era and way before the time we can travel space easily... All I can do is make this album and dream of the times that have passed. My fascination for the medieval past is poured into this album and also into "Magna Frisia", while the album "In Theia aetas" will cover the space subject.

You might think: 4 tracks? ...of which two are an intro and an outro... MCD? No... The main track of the album is Structures of infinity and will be approximately 1 hour long...

Topic: History of the Frisian people

My interest in history becomes even more personal on this album... I am Frisian and I am interested in where I come from, what we as a people have achieved in the past... I've done quite a bit of research into this and still am... All this knowledge will be poured into the album, which will be musical record of the Frisians... It will tell of our Nordic origins, how we beat the Romans, kicked Viking-butt, how we expanded our kingdom and how we lost the battle with the water 18 centuries ago, how we eventually prevailed, and much more...

In Theia aetas

Topic: The universe, exploration, curiosity, fantasy, technology, infinity and philosophy

Space has always fascinated me... We may know a little bit about our own planet (but essentially indeed no more that a little bit), but we can't resist the temptation to look beyond our own planet to see what's there... Oh well, I can't anyway... Beyond our own solar system and even beyond our own galaxy... Limitless space, planets, moons... Food for philosophy, fantasy, science and speculation... It is estimated that we know just a very small percentage of all lifeforms in our own oceans here on Earth, however, we also can't resist to wonder if there's life on other planets... We probably won't be able to visit any other solar system anytime soon, but still we're looking. This album combines wonder with curiosity, mixed with fantasy and philosophy to form an album about the majesty of the final frontier...

There might be more albums of course... But for the time being this is what I'm working on...
